The McCann Technical School Adult Education Program, in collaboration with the MassHire Berkshire Career Center and the Commonwealth Corporation, is offering a free 200-hour automotive technician training program with credentials and career placement assistance. Our CTI automotive technician program will provide students with industry training and hands-on experience working on today’s electronic integrated vehicles.

Certifications:

  • Basic S/P2 Safety and Pollution Prevention
  • S/P2 Electric Vehicle Safety
  • ALI Lifting it Right Training
  • John Bean System V Tire Machine
  • B2000P Diagnostic Tire Balancer
  • Pro42 Wheel Aligner
  • ProCut On Car Brake Lathe
  • Snap-On 504 Multimeter
  • OSHA-10
  • Hot Works

Program dates: November 16 – March 1, 2027
Monday – Thursday: 3:15-7:15 pm.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Unemployed or Underemployed (Earning < $21.90 per hour or $45,700 annually)
  • Massachusetts Resident
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • 18 years of age by completion of training
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent (HiSET/GED)
  • Must pass a CORI Background Check

**Interested trainees are encouraged to bring proof of eligibility with them**

What Documentation will I need?

To be eligible for CTI funding, you must meet the following criteria and provide proof. Note that in many cases, one document can prove multiple criteria. In certain cases, you may self-attest to prove eligibility (never for Work Authorization). Here are the categories and some examples that can be used as proof.

Aged 18+ upon completion of the training, typical documents include:

  • Driver’s License or State ID Card
  • Passport
  • Employment Authorization Card (I-766) or Permanent Resident Card (I-551)

Massachusetts Resident, typical documents include:

  • MA Driver’s License or State ID Card
  • Utility Bill dated in last 3 months
  • Government mail received in the past 60 days
  • Bank Statement
  • Lease agreement
  • Home or auto insurance

Authorized to Work in the U.S., typical documents include:

  • US Passport or Passport Card
  • US Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Permanent Resident Card (I-551) or Employment Authorization Card (I-766)

Unemployed / Underemployed.

Unemployed: Proof of collecting unemployment, such as

    • Letter of unemployment verification
    • Screenshot of unemployment insurance account.
    • Tax form (eg. 1040 form)

Underemployed: earning <$21.90 per hour working full time or $45,700 annually.

      • A minimum of 1 pay stub from last 6 months
      • Direct Deposit records
      • Tax Forms such as IRS 1040
      • Offer Letter/Employer Letter
      • Proof of income based public benefits (TANF, SNAP, SSI, SSDI).

Have a high school credential (HS Diploma, HiSET, GED, etc).
