Federally funded opportunity to help individuals impacted by the Opioid Health Crisis gain workforce skills and sustainable employment.

This grant is funded by the U.S Department of Labor’s National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant and is awarded to MassHire Berkshire Career Center through Berkshire Training & Employment, Inc.

This program is designed to combat the economic and workforce impacts associated with the opioid health crisis by encouraging more individuals to enter professions that could address the crisis, to support those impacted through employment and training opportunities and to assist local employers in creating recovery-friendly workplaces in an effort to increase sustained recovery for those directly impacted and improve the overall health of Berkshire County communities.

KEY COMPONENTS OF THE GRANT

Paid Training
Preferably in addiction and substance use treatment, mental health and pain management. Other local in-demand occupation can be considered.

Sample trainings may include:

  • Addictions Counselor Education
  • Recovery Coach
  • Mental Health Worker
  • Human Services Assistant Certificate Program
  • Addiction Recovery Assistant
  • Community Health Worker

Temporary Employment 
300-hour paid Internship opportunities at Berkshire County Healthcare and Mental Health worksites

Work Readiness Training
Work readiness includes topics such as:

  • Decision Making
  • Goal Setting
  • Different Points of view
  • Digital Literacy
  • Resume & Interview Preparation
  • And many more!!

On-the-Job Training Program
Provides up to 26 weeks of subsidized employment with Berkshire County WIOA approved employers and fosters continued permanent employment following the OJT training period. * Additional eligibly applies

PROGRAM SUPPORT

MassHire Berkshire Career Center provides assistance and support to foster your success

We support you through all phases of the program with:

  • A Judgment free space!
  • A dedicated Career Counselor
  • Work Readiness Training Program
  • 12 month follow-up services
  • Support Services to help with:
    • Transportation
    • Uniforms and other work attire
    • Occupational skills licensing fees

GRANT REQUIREMENTS

Eligibly requirement are as follows:

  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Select Service Compliant
  • Berkshire County resident
  • Directly or indirectly impacted by the Opioid Health Crisis (self-attested)
  • Unemployed (dislocated worker as defined by WIOA)
